PURPOSE:To obtain a compact, uniform-brightness illuminator for a microscope by arranging a reflecting mirror whose angle is adjusted freely, or an EL element operating as a light source under a stage. CONSTITUTION:Under the stage 1 of a microscope, a reflecting mirror 9 provided with an EL layer 8 is fitted in such a way that its angle is freely adjustable. On a concave glass substrate 10 on an irradiation-side surface, a transparent electrode 11, insulating layer 12, ZnS:Mn emission layer 13, and insulating layer 14 are formed by vapor deposition, and a back electrode of Al is vapor-deposited thereupon and connected to an AC power source. This is used normally as a reflecting mirror for collecting ambient light, or as an illuminating light source for a sample during lighting by voltage application. Thus, a compact, uniform- brightness illuminator for a microscope is obtained. |
