PURPOSE:To form a good image having high resolution, by providing an intermediate layer of amorphous silicon containing hydrogen, on a conductive supporting body, using a recording member having a charge holding layer consisting of amorphous silicon carbide containing hydrogen and providing signal charge onto said layer by a needle electrode. CONSTITUTION:On the outside circumferential surface of a drum-type metallic substrate S, an intermediate layer B consisting of amorphous silicon containing hydrogen, having 10<8>-10<12>OMEGA.cm specific resistance is formed, and a recording member 1 provided with a charge holding layer L consisting of amorphous silicon carbide containing hydrogen, having >=10<12>OMEGA.cm specific resistance, on this layer B is rotated in the direction as indicated with an arrow. Along the outside circumferential surface of this recording member 1, a recording mechanism 2 placed so that a lot of electrostatic recording needle electrodes stand in a line in the axial direction of the recording member 1, a developing device 3, a heating press-contact roller 4 for transfer, a destaticizing light irradiating mechanism 5, a toner cleaner 6, etc. are provided. |
