<p>PURPOSE:To make preferable heating treatment possible while improving the quality of a metallic strip in the stage of moving the strip in the longitudinal direction thereof relatively with respect to a heating source and heating the same, by generating a max. temp. gradient in the direction differing from the moving direction. CONSTITUTION:When the magnetism of, for example, an electromagnetic material is taken into consideration, it is necessary to heat treat the material so as to grow secondary recrystallization nuclei in the position at a right angle to the rolling direction as far as possible without growing said unclei in the rolling direction. In order to satisfy such requirement, a heating source, for example, an electromagnetic induction heating coil is constituted in the advance direction of a metallic strip 1 shown by an arrow, in such a way that the band of the strip 1 inclines to the longitudinal direction. Then, the momentary temp. distributions of the metallic strip in this stage are like the figure wherein t1<t2<t3. The direction of the max. temp. gradient in such a stage is in the direction A at a right angle to the inclining direction of the band to be heated and the direction of the max. temp. gradient is not fully in the transverse direction of the metallic strip but the quality is markedly improved.</p> |
