PURPOSE:To enhance plating quality, by introducing a wire like material to be plated into a plating tank and discharging the same therefrom through guide pipes provided to a molten salt layer applied on the surface of a molten metal in a pierced state to reduce heat consumption and to prevent wasteful metal consumption. CONSTITUTION:A molten metal plating tank 1 is filled with molten tin 2 while the surface thereof is covered with a molten salt layer 3 and a ceramic cylindrical tube 4 is inserted into the layer 3. In this state, a wire material 5 is passed through the inlet guide pipe 4 to be introduced into the molten tin 2 without being contacted with the molten salt and plated while guided by a press guide roller 6 to be discharged through an outlet guide pipe 4' in no contact relation to the molten salt. Subsequently, the wire material having only tin adhered thereto is passed through a squeeze die 7 to wipe of excessively adhered tin 2 and a uniformly plated wire material is obtained. In this case, as the molten salt, for example, an eutectic mixture of nitrates comprising 7% NaNO3, 40% NaNO2 and 53% KNO3 is used. |
