PURPOSE:To obtain an adequate peak shift compensating effect, by switching a compensating quantity of a circuit for compensating a data write timing in accordance with a write data pattern, in accordance with a radial direction write position of a recording medium. CONSTITUTION:A data written to a recording medium such as a magnetic disk medium, etc. is supplied to a data pattern detecting circuit 1. In the data pattern detecting circuit 1, this data is converted to a pattern, and its write data l is supplied to write timing compensating circuit 2, 3. In this case, in the two write timing compensating circuits, the compensating circuit 2 and the compensating circuit 3 provide a compensating quantity in the inside circumferential side and a compensating quantity in the outside circumferential side to the data pattern, respectively, so that they are compensated. Outputs of the write timing compensating circuits 2 and 3 are supplied to an OR gate 6 through AND gates 4, 5, respectively. On the other hand, radial direction write position information (h) of the storage medium is supplied to a radial direction position detecting circuit 7. |
