PURPOSE:To improve life performance, by allowing carbon to adhere to a base plate consisting of lead-calcium alloy to obtain a state of difficult generation of a corrosive film between the base plate and active material due to repetition of full charge and discharge operation. CONSTITUTION:Carbon 2 is adhesively attached to a base plate 1 consisting of lead-calcium alloy by the suitable method, for instance, evaporation to cause the carbon 2 to be present between the plate 1 and active material. In this way, generation of a corrosive film can be suppressed to enable the repetition of full charge and discharge operation. A lead storage battery A using said plate 1 and a lead storage battery B using a conventional base unit are discharged with a fixed current for an hour at a current value of 20A and charged for 5hr at a current value of 5A (temperature 40-45 deg.C), and its life test result of charge and discharge is as shown in the drawing, in which the battery A can extend its life about 30% longer than the conventional battery B. |
