[Also in Division B2] A mill e.g. a hammer mill 1<SP>1</SP> for reducing provender, is controlled by a circuit arrangement in which a pulse generator 11 applies pulses, via a current sensitive lever 13, to different contacts in accordance with the current consumption of the drive motor 1; one contact 18 receiving pulses when the motor 1 is operating below its normal current consumption to effect operation of an adjusting motor 2 which opens a stock feed valve 2<SP>1</SP>, a further contact 17 receiving pulses when the drive motor is operating above normal current consumption to operate the adjusting motor 2 to close the stock feed valve 2<SP>1</SP>, and in the case of persistent overload a further arrangement of contacts 14, 16, 17, contact 17 causing closure of the stock feed valve, and contacts 14, 16 energizing a solenoid 40 to open a switch 41, close a switch 42 to stop the feed motor 3 and start a timer 20<SP>1</SP> for a second solenoid 20 to associate with main switches 21, 22, so that the mill stops after an interval. A safety device may be included to prevent starting the mill motor until the valve 2<SP>1</SP> is closed. |
