<p>L - Tryptophanyl - L - methionyl - L-aspartyl-L-phenylalanine amide and its acid addition salts is prepared by removing the protecting groups from the corresponding N-protected tetrapeptamide ester. t - Butoxycarbonyl - L - tryptophanyl - L-methionyl - (b - t - butyl) - L - aspartyl - L-phenylalanine amide, L-methionyl-(b -t-butyl)-L-aspartyl - L - phenylalanine amide, N - (o - nitro-phenylsulphenyl) - L - methionyl - (b - t - butyl)-L - aspartyl - L - phenylalanine amide, (b - t-butyl) - L - aspartyl - L - phenylalanine amide, N - benzyloxycarbonyl - (b - t - butyl) - L - aspartyl - L - phenylalanine amide and Na - (t-butyloxycarbonyl) - L - tryptophan - 2,4,5-trichlorophenyl and p-nitrophenyl esters are prepared as starting materials.
