PURPOSE:To prevent rendering of mercury without causing the worsening of a heavy load electric discharge characteristic, by using a negative electrode, in which a small amount of Hg is added to Zn alloy powder containing Ga, In, Tl, etc., and suppressing the generation of gas with a small amount of Hg. CONSTITUTION:A quantity with 0.05-1.8wt% Hg for Zn is amalgamated and contained in Zn alloy powder in which two or more of the elements Ga, In, Tl are contained in Zn. Use of a negative electrode using this Zn alloy powder can form an alkaline battery reducing a quantity of Hg without causing the worsening of a heavy load electric discharge characteristic. |
