PURPOSE:To obtain a display body efficiently, by holding a group of optical fibers expanded at each end with freely detachable holders at prescribed intervals, fixing the expanded ends with a removable coating material, pouring a solidifiable liquid to solidify it, and removing the coating material after the solidification. CONSTITUTION:A large number of optical fibers 1 made of acrylic or styrene polymer are arranged and held at prescribed intervals detachably with a holder 2 consisting of a surrounding frame 21 and partition materials 22 and placed in a vessel 3. Before the fibers 1 are expanded at each end by bringing a heated plate or the like into contact with each end to expand it to disperse emission light widely. The coating material, such as water- or alkali-soluble resin or paraffin removable by low temp. melting, is introduced to coat the expanded ends 11 and solidify the material 4. Then, a resin 5, such as unsatd. polyester or cold-setting epoxy resin, is poured and solidified. After the solidification, the solidified materials are taken out and the coating material 4 is removed, thus obtaining a display having a substrate of the solidified resin 5'. |
