A duplicating master comprising a xerographic plate carrying a duplicating image consisting of a fusible material and a volatile colour reagent is used to produce copies by a vapour thermographic process on copy paper containing a material which reacts with said reagent to form an intense colour. The reagent is preferably rubeanic acid and the material in the copy paper may be a sulphate of nickel, cobalt or copper. The fusible material may be a resin toner. In the embodiment of Fig. 4 a xerographic image is transferred from a cylinder 50 to a conductive offset roller 57 by means of a transfer potential and a vapour fusing chamber 60 fuses the image. Copies are run off on to sheets 27, with the roller 57 tripped from the cylinder 50 by cam means 61, by means of a heated impression roller 63. Fig. 5 depicts an arrangement in which copy material in web form is imaged by a web, the copy material being selectively brought into the printing position by a solenoid device 91. The heat required to produce tha vaporization at the printing station may be provided electrically, by photoflash lamps infra-red devices, radiant illumination or by hot air.
