PURPOSE:To improve traveling stability and durability of a ferromagnetic thin metallic film obtained by the inclined vapor deposition method, by cross-linking an oligomer having a lubricating group, a group having at least two radiation sensitive double bonds, and a polar group in one molecule, by irradiation of radiation. CONSTITUTION:An oligomer compd. is applied as a top coat on a ferromagnetic metal layer. A preferable amt. of top coat is 1-200mg/m<2>. The used oligomer compd. has a lubricating group, a group having at least two radiation sensitive double bands, and a polar group in one molecule, and its preferable mol.wt. is <=2,000. After coating said metal layer with said oligomer as the top coat, the oligomer is crosslinked by irradiation of radiation and hardened. Such a constitution gives a reinforcing effect similar to the case in which a high mol.wt. polymer is sufficiently filled between each columnar particle made of the ferromagnetic metal even when a comparatively low mol.wt. binder is used in order to fill each gap between the metal particles sufficiently, because the irradiation of radiation sufficiently cross-links the oligomer compd. after the filling. |
