The position indication equipment is for the sliding plug of a piston-type valve, having a sliding component of non-magnetic material fixed to the plug and supporting one or more permanent magnets . Round the component are non-magnetic supports for a magnetic proximity detector. The proximity generator produces an electrical signal only when the magnet is close to it. Each detector can be a reed-switch, and where the plug has a middle and two end positions there can be two detectors, the magnet being between them in the middle position.
