PURPOSE:To use a gas turbine starting battery as the power source for an air assist pump, by inserting a voltage drop resistor in series with a drive motor for an air assist pump at the final stage of starting operation. CONSTITUTION:Upon turning on of a contact 1, a startor functions to drop the battery voltage considerably while simultaneously relays 2, 4 function to turn on the contacts 2a, 4a and magnet relays 5, 6 function to turn on the contacts 5a, 6a to connect an air assist pump 8 to a battery 9 thus to start operation. The battery voltage will recover gradually as the turbine rotation increases while upon reaching to the maximum allowable terminal voltage of a drive motor 11 for the pump 8, the contact 3 will turn off to be energize the relay 4 thus to turn off the contact 4a while a magnet relay 6 is also de-energized to turn off the contact 6a which has shortcircuited the resistor 7 thereby the resistor 7 is connected in series with the drive motor 11. Consequently the rotation is maintained in proper range. |
