PURPOSE:To obtain a thermocouple having comparatively good thermal response properties and oxydation resistance, by covering a detection end part by glass having specific thickness. CONSTITUTION:In order to improve the oxydation resistance, a detection end part is covered by glass. The thickness of the glass is set within the range of about 0.01mm.-2mm., preferably about 0.1mm.-10mm.. Moreover, it is desirable that the covering glass has elasticity comparatively and has >=6,000kg/mm.<3> elastic coefficient and has a thermal expansion coefficient close to that of a metal. Concretely, when its thermal expansion coefficient is set within the range of about 5.0X10<-6>/deg. - about 40X10<-6>/deg., the thermal expansion coefficient of the covering glass is comparatively approximate to that of the metal. When the coefficient of the covering glass is approximate to that of the metal, said glass is easy to make thin because the glass layer is hard to strip off by thermal shock and its thermal response properties are improved. Barium glass, soda lime glass and lead glass, etc. are used for this kind of glass. |
