PURPOSE:To provide a vacuum degassing device which can incorporate surely the alloys to be added into molten steel by disposing an alloy adding vessel communicating with a vacuum degassing vessel through an aperture provided in the side wall position under the melt surface of the degassing vessel and providing a pressure regulator for controlling the pressure in said adding vessel. CONSTITUTION:While no alloys are added, a valve 14 is held closed, a valve 16 is held open, and the pressure in an alloy adding vessel 12 is kept reduced to the value equal to the pressure in a degassing vessel 3 or slightly higher than said pressure. When the alloys are going to be added, the valve 16 is closed, and the valve 14 is opened to add the alloys from alloy hoppers 13 into the vessel 12. The valve 14 is then closed and the valve 16 is opened to pressurize the inside of the vessel 12 with the regulator 15 and to deliver the molten metal in the vessel 12 together with the alloys into the vessel 3. The inside of the vessel 12 is evacuated to suck the molten steel 2 into the vessel 12. The pressurization and evacuation in the vessel 12 are repeated again according to need to assure the delivery of the alloys. |
