PURPOSE:To enable smooth and sure gear engagement at all times by changing the magnitude of the pressing force of a gear shift actuator in response to the change in the rate of relative rotational speed variation between the target engine speed and the actual engine speed. CONSTITUTION:In the shift control apparatus in which the engagement of gears is shifted after synchronizing the engine speed and the rate of rotation of a driven member by means of throttle valve opening control, the rate of the relative rotational speed variation between the target rate of rotation and the actual engine speed is computed based on the outputs from various sensors at the time of the gear engagement. By the controller 4 which changes the magnitude of the pressing force of the gear shift actuator, the pressing force of the gear shift actuator 13 is made large when the rate of the relative rotational speed variation is large. Thus, regardless of the rate of the relative rotational speed variation, the smooth and sure gear engagement can always be effected. |
