The electrical drilling machine with a fixed stand comprises a stand (1), a work table (2), a motor (9), a rotatable shaft (7), transmission means (13, 14, 16, 17, 23) between the motor and the shaft, and means (11) for connection an AC voltage source. The motor (9) is a permanent-magnet DC motor or a motor having field windings which are supplied from an auxiliary source at a constant voltage. The drilling machine comprises a device for producing a rectified voltage from the supply source, in order to supply the motor (9), and a device (27) for setting the supply voltage of the motor (9). The invention makes it possible to set the speed simply and to save space and weight on the headpiece of the machine.
