The invention concerns a method for continuous casting to improve the structure of the cast material, wherein powder with a chemical composition basically corresponding to the continuously cast material is introduced into the casting strand inside or above a casting mould, and the powder is taken down into the non- solidified portion of the casting strand by means of electromagnetic agitation. The method according to the invention is characterised in that the agitation occurs at and/or directly beneath the mould and at an acute angle to the direction of casting and so deep that the formation of equiaxial crystals in the casting strand is effectively influenced. <IMAGE> |
