PURPOSE:To make it possible to certainly cover a nozzle with a cap in a simple structure, by covering an ink jet nozzle with a clogging preventing cap mechanism by elastic force in cooperated relation to the moving operation of a recording head to a retracted position. CONSTITUTION:When a recording head 4 is moved to a retracted position Q, the shoulder part thereof is contacted with the elastic member of a press plate 11 which is, in turn, rotated to a direction B and said press plate 11 is further forced back to a direction against elasticity to the bending force of a support rod 10. By this mechanism, the front surface nozzle part of the recording head 4 is closely contacted to the elastic material 12 provided to the press plate 8 of a cap mechanism 8 to be covered thereby. In the next step, when the recording head 4 is moved to a recording operation part P from the retracted position Q for the sake of recording operation, the cap mechanism 8 is returned to the original position by the elasticity of the support rod 10. By this method, the nozzle can be certainly covered with the cap in a simple structure requiring no exclusive drive source and the titled apparatus can be miniaturized. |
