A solid-state image pickup element has a plurality of image pickup picture elements (F11-Fmn:F min 11-F min mn:E min 11-E min mn) formed of photoelectric converters (G11-Gmn:G min 11-G min mn:U11-Umn:Y11, Y12 ....., W11, W12, ...) and switching elements (X11-Xmn:X min 11-X min mn:S11-Smn) generating a signal charge upon the reception of light so that signals based on the signal charges generated and amplified in response to the quantity of light incident on the photoelectric converters from the respective image pickup picture elements are led out through the switching elements, thereby forming an image pickup output signals.
