In a gas heating device with useful heat utilisation, the flue gases cool in the heat exchanger to their dew point temperature. In order to avoid sooting of the chimney, the cooled flue gases are reheated. The combustion chamber (6) and the heat exchanger (16) are enclosed by a common waste gas jacket (1). The flue gases from the heat exchanger (16) enter this and in it flow past the combustion chamber (6). <IMAGE>
