Date Nov. 12, 1981.An electron beam accelerator comprises a radiation protection chamber 10 accommodating a partition 12 which in combination with a vacuum chamber 1 hermetically divides the radiation protection chamber 10 into two compartments 14, 15. One compartment 14 accommodates an exit window 2 of the vacuum chamber 1, while the other compartment 15 accommodates an electron beam scanning system 8, vacuum pumps 3 and a vacuum monitoring device 5.
