The gel or gels are coated on a support plate. The arrangement includes a sealable transporting and storage container. Both the container and its contents are sterilised. - The gel e.g. agar is on a support plate within a box shaped storage vessel which has a lid. There is a sealing strip. The test plate, is sterilised in the container which can be enclosed in a vacuum pack.
