PURPOSE:To enable to reduce noise at the time of printing, by a method wherein both ends of a platen are fitted to a chassis with a spacing therebetween, and the platen is constantly pressed by an elastic member in an impacting direction of a printing element. CONSTITUTION:Based on printing data inputted, a printing head 1 is impacted against the platen 6 through a printing ribbon 8 and a printing paper 7. Projections 9, 10 provided at both ends of the platen 6 are slidably fitted to the chassis 4 with a spacing therebetween, and the platen 6 is energized in the impacting direction by a spring 8. Therefore, a portion of impact vibrational energy of the head 1 is consumed by chattering of joint parts between the platen 6 and the chassis 4, the vibration of the platen 6 itself is reduced by a polyvinyl chloride made vibration-damping member 25 which is fixed, and the noise at the time of printing is reduced by about 3-5dB. Accordingly, even when a platen made of a metal or a hard resin base material is used to obtain a high print quality, the noise at the time of printing can be reduced. |
