PURPOSE:To provide a spring made of fiber reinforcing plastics which is light and excellent in durability by connecting a reinforcing fiber layer simultaneously filament-wound on a flexible tube at a specified winding angle and a tube in a thermosetting resin matrix. CONSTITUTION:Concurrently, reinforcing fibers 2, 2' impregnated with rein liquid are repeatedly wound with rension in the opposite direction from both sides round a flexible tube 1 at winding angles of + or -15 deg.-80 deg. to form a strand 3. The strand is continuously taken up in a spiral groove of a spirally grooved mold 4, and the resin is hardened to form a hollow-section coiled spring made of fiber reinforcing plastics. The tube 1 is made by using thermosetting resin like soft vinyl chloride. As reinforcing fiber material, glass fiber, carbon fiber, organic high elastic fiber or the like is used. Unsaturated polyester resin, epoxy resin or the like is used for a thermosetting resin. Thus, the above coiled spring can be formed in such a manner as to the same spring constant and be of the substantially same form as a steel coiled spring. |
