An appts. for molding thermoplastic articles has an extrusion head for producing a downwardly flowing annulus with a lenticular oval cross-section, and an upwardly open mold below the extrusion head. the mold has an upwardly directed pin which is surrounded by the extruded annulus after the pin is parted from the head. A stamp closes the mold cavity to shape the extruded blank. Premature crystallization of the plastic is avoided.
