The display is intended for forming words from letters which are arranged on carriers and may be coloured and/or light-emitting. It comprises a cylindrical housing containing a fixed central shaft on which disc-shaped carriers are arranged side-by-side each having the letters of the alphabet and a blank segment on its outer perimeter. The carriers can be individually rotated via a slot in the rear of the housing to form a word appearing in a window at the front, each word being associated with a different letter combination visible through the slot.
