PURPOSE:To obtain a photosensitive material having improved photographic performance by using aqueous polymer latex ultrafiltered with a membrane as polymer latex to be contained in a constituent layer. CONSTITUTION:Aqueous polymer latex having about 1-80wt% concn. of solid matter, e.g., latex of a polymer of about 0.01-1mum particle size represented by the formula is ultrafiltered with a membrane having about 500-50,000 fractional mol.wt. under about 1-15kg/cm<2> pressure at about 0.1-10m<3>/m<2> day average rate of water permeation for about 6-8hr. The resulting aqueous polymer latex is used in a constituent layer of a photosensitive material such as the underlayer, the intermediate layer or the antihalation layer. The degree of ultrafiltration is judged from the electric conductivity of the ultrafiltered latex, and it is regulated according to the application. For example, when the latex is used as a mordant, the preferred electric conductivity is <= about 400muOMEGA/cm in case of 1wt% concn. of latex. |
