PURPOSE:To complete the defrosting in a short time with high power by a method wherein a compressor motor to perform defrosting operation is driven on the commercial power source with higher frequency than used in the device. CONSTITUTION:First electromagnetic switches 3 to connect respective AC motors to and disconnect them from the power terminal of a single frequency variable generator 2 in every one of air conditioners 1a and 1b, second electromagnetic switches 4 to connect respective compressor motor 5 to and disconnect them from the commercial power source changing-over circuits, each of which deenergizes the first electromagnetic switch 3 and energizes the second electromagnetic switch 4 by a defrosting operation instruction during heating period, while energizes the first electromagnetic switch 3 and deenergizes the second electromagnetic switch 4 by the cancellation of the defrosting operation instruction, are provided. Accordingly, an air conditioner put into defrosting operation drives its compressors with high power, while the other air conditioner under heating operation drives its compressor with the power in response to the load, resulting in fulfilling simultaneously both the reduction of time of defrosting operation and the maintenance of comfortability of heating.
