In a method of separating heavier hydrocarbons from methane-rich liquefied natural gas as claimed in the parent Specification, wherein liquid natural gas is fed to the mid-portion of a demethanizer coloumn 10 from the base of which heavier hydrocarbons are withdrawn through a line 22 and from the head of the column methane-rich vapour is withdrawn through a line 17, cooled in a heat exchanger 14 by liquid feed admitted through a line 11, thereby condensing heavier hydrocarbons which are separtaed as liquid in a vessel 18 and supplied through a line 19 as reflux to the column 10, the latter is also supplied with C 3 and/or heavier hydrocarbons, e.g., by adding a portion of the bottoms from a de-propanizer column 12 through a line 28 cooling in heat exchangers 16, 15 and then feeding through a line 23 to the overhead line 17 from column 10. The bottoms from column 10 are fed through a line 22 to the mid-portion of a de-ethanizer column 29 and the bottoms of this column are fed through a line 26 to column 12. The overheads from columns 29, 12 and that portion of the bottoms from column 12 not returned to column 10 are fed to a conventional cracking plant 13. Methane vapour from vessel 18 is discharged through a line 20 and heat exchangers 21 for use as fuel gas.</p> |
