PURPOSE:To obtain a product of high purity having a uniform particle form and grain size by carrying out wet pulverization of a mixture of starting materials for making above-mentioned compd. in the manufacture by allowing said mixture to react hydrothermally. CONSTITUTION:Limestone, slaked lime, alumina, activated alumina, alumina hydrate, CaSO4 and aluminum sulfate are blended so as to have approximately stoichiometric ratio of calcium aluminate monosulfate hydrate (MSH). This mixture of starting materials is mixed with water to produce ettringite. By carrying out wet pulverization of the slurry with a ball mill or the like, particles of ettringite and unreactive starting materials are pulverized finely to <=80mu grain size. After wet pulverization, the synthesis of MSH is carried out by a hydrothermal reaction.
