<p>PURPOSE:To provide an optimum distribution of a sectional area of a scroll passage, by minimizing a sectional area of a passage at a scroll inlet by means of a variable nozzle member during low speed running, and continuously decreasing a sectional area of a passage downstream of the scroll inlet. CONSTITUTION:A variable nozzle member 24 is rocked to a position as shown by a solid line during low speed running. A sectional area of a passage at a scroll inlet 23A is minimized to form a throat X between a free end 24A of the nozzle member 24 and a tongue 30. As a sectional area of a passage downstream of the throat X is continuously decreased, an exhaust gas flows into a turbine wheel 22 from an entire circumference thereof at a uniform speed without expansion.</p> |
