PURPOSE:To prevent generation of roll marks by dividing only the backup rolls of small diameter which do not exert a face pressure onto the intermediate rolls with the backup rolls consisting backup rolls of large diameter which exert the high face pressure and said backup rolls of small diameter and pressing the divided rolls except the rolls at both ends. CONSTITUTION:Backup rolls 10 of large diameter of a rolling mill are not divided and are pressed to intermediate rolls 3. Only the backup rolls 11 of small diameter are divided to, for example, five parts for the purpose of controlling the shape and the divided rolls 11b except the divided rolls 11a at both ends are pressed respectively independently in the direction approximately perpendicular to the axial center direction. Then if rolling is performed in the same way as in the prior art by controlling the rolling force of the rolls 10, 11 according to rolling conditions, the product having no roll marks on the surface is obtd. |
