A micro-floppy disc (10) is housed in a cassette (12) that it is inserted into the drive unit such that a central spigot locates in a hole in the disc that is rotated by a drive motor (14). The heads are located on a carriage (18) that moves radially across the disc on a pair of guide bars (16). Motion of the carriage is provided by a stepping motor (20) with a belt drive (22). Mounted on the carriage is a pivoted arm (26) that carries a top pickup (30). The bottom unit of the carriage provides support for a lower pickup (28). When the top arm is lowered, the upper pickup moves on a linkage to follow the motion of the lower one. Both pickups access the disc via a slot in the cassette sleeve.
