PURPOSE:To enable straightening of a thick plate up to a thin plate by one leveler by enabling at least one of upper and lower carriages of a roller leveler to move in horizontal direction and making distance between centers of upper and lower leveling rolls variable. CONSTITUTION:The leveler is provided with upper and lower leveling rolls 1, 2, backup rolls 3, 4 and carriages 5, 6. The upper carriage 5 is pressed by screw down devices 8, 9 and strain of a plate M is corrected by upper and lower leveling rolls 1, 2 to make it flat. In this case, shifting devices 10, 11 are attached to one of upper and lower carriages 5, 6 to enable the carriage to move in horizontal direction, and thereby enable to adjust the distance between centers of upper and lower leveling rolls 1 and 2 wider or narrower as A', B'. By making the distance between centers of upper and lower leveling rolls variable, the correction of strain of a thick plate or thin plate becomes possible by one leveler. |
