PURPOSE:To prevent breakage of an output gear by a method wherein free wheel starting is switched to starter motor starting when the rotating number of the free wheel has become lower than a predetermined rotating number upon re- starting the engine, in the re-starting device permitting the re-start of the engine by a power stored in the free wheel. CONSTITUTION:A movable iron piece 19 is contacted with a sliding member 20 by the conduction 22 of a solenoid clutch mechanism 17 to connect a flywheel, fixed to a crank shaft 12, to the free wheel 16. In this case, the solenoid clutch mechanism 17 is connected when the rotating number of the free wheel 16 is higher than the first predetermined rotating number upon restarting the engine by a power stored in the free wheel and cranking is effected by the inertia force of the free wheel 16. In case the rotating number of the free wheel 16 is reduced to the number lower than second predetermined rotating number upon restarting the engine, the starter motor is driven and the output gear of the motor is meshed with a ring gear 23 to effect the cranking. |
