PURPOSE:To obtain very strong adhering power by a method wherein the cavity of a sleeve is filled with a glass material to fix a center shaft by fusion welding and sealing. CONSTITUTION:The center shaft 7, which becomes a positive electrode, is inserted into the sleeve 8' consisting of a metallic material or the sintered body of ceramic and the cavity in the sleeve is filled with the glass material 9' to form an assembled body in which the center shaft 7 is welded to the sleeve 8' by fusion welding. The assembled body is inserted into the rear end opening of a mounting fitment 4 so that the tip end face of the sleeve 8' is abutted against and retained to the step seat 4 of the mounting fitment 4 in the cavity of the large diametral section thereof and the free end of the sleeve 8' is caulked inwardly at the peripheral rim of the opening of the mounting fitment 4. According to this method, the ceramic glow plug provide with a large torque strength and a very strong mechanical strength may be obtained. |
