In the case of an electric-motor-driven generator drive, having a gear transmission which varies the rotation speed of the drive motor and has at least two transmission gears, which are supported such that they can rotate, correspond with one another and are of different diameter, in order to reduce both the wear and the operating noise as well as to improve its economy, the transmission of the torque from the driving transmission gear (4) to the transmission gear (5) which can be driven takes place without contact via permanent magnets, for which purpose the two transmission gears (4+5) support permanent magnets which can be positioned opposite one another and have magnetic poles which alternate in the circumferential direction, are at identical distances from one another and have mutually identical pole strengths, and the transmission gears (4+5) being arranged at the smallest possible distance from one another on the magnetic pole side. <IMAGE>
