PURPOSE:To obtain inexpensively fuel which forms less soot, has a low ash content and is useful as fuel for a home furnace, by mixing petroleum coke powder with sawdust and briquetting the mixture. CONSTITUTION:150-400pts.wt. petroleum coke powder 2 is mixed with 100pts. wt. sawdust 3 having a water content of 15%. The mixture is briquetted at 250 deg.C under a pressure of 50-60kg/cm<2>. The mixing and the briquetting are carried out in such a manner that sawdust 3 is screened by a screen classifier 4 and dried in a dryer 5 to a water content of 15%, the dried sawdust is mixed with petroleum coke 2 in a mixer 6 and the mixture is briquetted by a briquetting machine to obtain a solid fuel 1.
