In order to construct structures which can be easily assembled and are in the form of a framework, the present arrangement exhibits a joint element (2) via which a first round profile rod (6) can be connected in a cross-shaped manner to a second round profile rod (6'). In order to effect the actual connection, corresponding recesses (8, 8') are provided on both round profile rods, the actual connecting point being located in the interior of the joint element. During assembly, the first round profile rod (6) is inserted into a first bore (4) of the joint element (2) such that the second round profile rod (6') can be guided, via a second bore (10), far enough through the recess (8) of the first profile rod (6) to permit the two recesses (8, 8') to engage in each other. To ensure against unintentional detachment from the assembled position, the two connected round profile rods (6, 6') are then braced in the joint element (2) via a wedge element (12). <IMAGE>
