PURPOSE:To make oscillation width adaptive automatically to a change in a groove spacing and to obtain a defectless welded joint by detecting the change in the groove width from a pattern in the change of a projecting length of a wire occuring in oscillation. CONSTITUTION:When welding is started, the timing at which the oscillation width in a direction X is zero is detected and the average value Ia of welding current, the effective value Ie of the welding current and the feed speed V of a wire are sampled then the length of a wire 5 from the tip end of a chip 4 to an arc 6, i.e., the projecting length LE of the wire is calculated. When the next sampling time comes, the data is taken in and L'Eo is determined. The average value L'Em of one cycle of the oscillation in the direction X is determined and the set values LEd of a setter and L'Em are compared. A vertical moving device 21 is then moved until L'Em=LEd is attained. |
