NEW MATERIAL:A trifluoromethanesulfon anilide derivative shown by the formula I (R1 is lower alkyl, or halogen; R2 is H, lower alkyl, or halogen). EXAMPLE:2-Methyl-4-allylthiotrifluoromethanesulfon anilide. USE:Having herbicidal effect on gramineous weeds such as Echinochloa oryzicola Vasing, broadleaf weeds such as false pimpernel, cyperaceous weeds, etc. Showing no phytotoxicity to main crops such as rice plant, soybean, cotton, etc., which causes problems. PREPARATION:A benzenethiol derivative shown by the formula II is reacted with an allyl halide shown by the formula CH2=CHCH2X (X is halogen) is a solvent in the presence of a dehydrohalogenating agent at 20-80 deg.C for 0.25- 10hr to give a compound shown by the formula I . Benzene, etc. may be cited as the solvent. Pyridine, NaOH, etc. may be cited as the dehydrohalogenating agent.
