PURPOSE:To obtain a muffler, which is easy to install and excellent in appearance, by compressing a non-metallic silencing material and forming a bracket in an integrated form with a muffler body. CONSTITUTION:A non-metallic silencing material such as cotton-like glass wool, etc. is compressed, to mold halved members 11, 12, each of which consists of a curved board part 13 having a nearly semicircular cross section and a projecting part 14, which projects upward from the top edge of the curved board part 13 being formed in an integrated form with it. The outer surface of each member 11, 12 is impregnated with a heat-resistant resin and hardened to provide sufficient strength. A reinforcing member 16 is tightly inserted in the through hole 15 of the projecting parts 14, 14 of the oppositely joined members 11, 12. These projecting parts 14, 14 serves as a bracket for fixing the muffler body to another member such as a body frame, etc. |
