PURPOSE:A safe acaricide, containing a specific pyrethroid, e.g. ''Phenothrin'', ''Permethrin'', etc., and capable of exhibiting specifically high acaricidal effect particularly on Dermatophagoides farinae Hughes. CONSTITUTION:An acaricide containing a pyrethroid compound selected from ''Phenothrin'', ''Permethrin'', ''Resmethrin'' and 3'-phenoxybenzyl 2,2,3,3- tetramethylcyclopropanecarboxylate and further if necessary a synergistic agent for pyrethroid, e.g. IBTA or piperonyl butoxide, and/or an injurious insect repellent, e.g. deet or benzyl benzoate. To exterminate mites growing in TATAMI mats, etc., >=0.1mg, particularly 1mg-2g per mat above-mentioned pyrethroid compound is preferably applied. To exterminate mites of the families Acaridae and Epidermoptidae growing in carpets, 0.5mg-2g per m<2> above-mentioned pyrethroid compound is preferably applied.
