Flat bags 6, 8, 13 with a content evenly distributed therein are fed, lying flat on a conveyor belt and initially at intervals from one another in a horizontal row, from a filling and sealing apparatus to a packaging container 1. On the way to this container the bags are first made to overlap one another in the row, following which they are clamped between two conveyor belt sections 9, 10, in order to ensure that the contents of the bags remain evenly distributed, and from a downward leading conveyor belt section 4 are introduced into the container 1, where they are stacked horizontally side by side, as a result of which the container can be tightly filled without the bags being exposed to excessive external pressure with the risk that the contents of the bag will be damaged thereby. Since the bags are transferred from the said conveyor belt section 4 directly to the packaging container 1 without any intermediate storage, containers of different size can be successively filled, virtually without interrupting the conveyor. With parallel operation of a plurality of identical production lines each with its apparatus 20 for performing the method, the filling apparatuses with different outputs can therefore be used, and each of these can work at its maximum output for filling containers with bags having different contents, and these containers can be collected at one point for producing larger assortment units, without the differing outputs of the filling apparatuses leading to excess containers at the collection point, any excess from the filling apparatuses being compensated for by absorbing other packaging containers on the production line of the filling apparatus in question and, after filling, conveying these containers to another collection point. <IMAGE> |
