PURPOSE:To increase effective area of electrode by forming an electrode end seal so that gas inlet and outlet ends are made to a specified width and other ends are made narrower than the gas inlet and outlet ends. CONSTITUTION:An electrode end seal 12 is formed so that gas inlet and outlet ends 12a are made to a specified width and other ends 12b are made narrower than the gas inlet and outlet ends 12a. A gas pathway 8a which is used to supply gas is installed in power generating area increased by making narrow the ends 12b than the ends 12a. When a fuel electrode 1 and an oxidizing electrode 2 having the gas pathway 8a are used to form a unit cell, effective area of the electrodes 1 and 2 is increased by the area indicated by slant lines 13 since gas pathways 8 and 8a are intersected at right angles. |
