<p>PURPOSE:To regenerate a trap more accurately by deciding regeneration comparatively precisely through another technique without stopping the decision of regeneration when the pressure of a trap inlet is less than a fixed value. CONSTITUTION:A trap 23 for collecting fine particles in exhaust interposed in an exhaust path is regenerated by a burner 25. The burner 25 is operated through a controller 50 on the basis of inlet pressure P1 and outlet pressure P2 detected by a pressure detector 42. The controller 50 has a first decision-ratio arithmetic means arithmetically operating a decision ratio K=(P1-P2)/P1 when inlet pressure P1 is higher than a fixed value, a second decision-ratio arithmetic means adding the rise section DELTAK of a decision ratio corresponding to the quantity of fine particles in exhaust collected per unit time obtained in response to the conditions of operation to a decision ratio K'=(P1-P2)/P2 immediately before the trap at every unit time when inlet pressure P1 is less than the fixed value, a regeneration time decision means, etc.</p> |
