SEALING DEVICE BETWEEN CONVERTER PORT AND SKIRT OF CONVERTER WASTE GAS TREATING DEVICE

PURPOSE:To seal thoroughly a converter port and skirt by breaking the slag sticking to the port by a water-cooled sealing ring provided in the lower part of the skirt and sealing the leaking gas by the chain screen-like sealing ring provided on the outside thereof. CONSTITUTION:The 1st sealing ring 17 made of a heat resisting cast iron having a circular section is first brought into press contact with a converter port 12 by a cylinder 21 for a skirt and the slag of a high temp. sticking to the port 12 is quickly cooled by the cooling water flowing in the hollow part 17'. The slat is broken by the thermal impact effected from said quick cooling and is crushed by the pressing force, by which the port 12 and the ring 17 are held in nearly the hermetic state. The chain screen-like 2nd sealing ring 18 contacts with the port 12 corresponding to thermal deformation or manufacturing error of the port 12 and forms the chain screen around the ring 17, thereby sealing the leaking gas.
