PURPOSE:To allow individual whetstones to always follow up a workpiece surface whereby effectively polish the above surface by slidably providing plural needle-shaped whetstones constructing a whetstone body in a whetstone holder. CONSTITUTION:Positively or negatively driving a reversible motor 20 with operation of a control device 19, a slide member 15 is transversely reciprocated via a screw shaft 18. At the same time, plural whetstones 5 held by the whetstone holder 6 of a polishing tool 1 via an arm member 14 move along a workpiece surface W for making polishing work. Then, even if the workpiece surface W is complicated in its bending and has unevenness and fine undulation, the individual needle-shaped whetstones 5 follow up the workpiece surface W while elevating and descending in the whetstone holder 6 for making polishing work. Therefore, no polishing unevenness is formed, and accurate polishing work can be achieved.
